E
lettrotec is one of the main players
within the industry that manufactures
fluid control equipment with its supply
of pressure switches, vacuum switches,
thermostats, flow switches, flow meters, level
indicators, level sensors, electronic pressure
switches, pressure transmitters and digital
indicators. Manufacturers of the automatic
machinery that is used in industrial automation,
in lifting systems, heat exchange, hydraulics
& pneumatics, chemicals and lubrication
systems demand parts and components that
guarantee high standards of quality, reliability
and precision. This is only possible thanks
to continuous innovation which involves the
experience of engineering studios, a team of
professionals and reliable products that have
a high technological content. As confirmation
of this, Elettrotec will be introducing the new
MPS modular electro-mechanical pressure
switch at Hannover Messe 2013 (Hall 21 –
Stand C38). During this major trade-fair event,
the launch of the product will be combined
with the celebrations linked to the bicentenary
of the birth of both Verdi and Wagner, in
acknowledgement of the fact that these two
artists were capable of broadening horizons
and opening people’s minds.
The MPS modular electro-mechanical
pressure switch
Today, the company sees innovation as the
indispensable driving force behind the growth
of both itself and its customers. In fact, the
presentation of this new revolutionary product,
in its simplicity, is rousing both the curiosity and
attention of the market: we are talking about the
Modular Pressure Switch (MPS).
Unlike other electro-mechanical pressure
switches, where the mechanical element and
the electrical connection are in just one part,
Elettrotec has developed and patented this
mechanical pressure switch which has an
interchangeable electric connection system.
The MPS electro-mechanical pressure switch
is a product that, today, is considered to be
mature, as now nothing more can be invented
regarding the drive of this device, but much
more can be done to increase the level of
flexibility when in use and reduce the energy
that is dissipated when functioning.
The pressure switches that are currently
available on the market are, in fact, made up
of just one body which includes the sensitive
mechanical element and the electric connection
in just one part. Faston, DIN 43650, Deutsch
and M12 type connections will only be
available in the 24 AF version. Different types of
diaphragms can be used (NBR, FKM, Silicone,
Hnbr, Neoprene, Epdm and stainless steel).
In the current solution, the MPS is an electro-
mechanical pressure switch that can detect
pressure levels ranging from 0.5 to 300 bar
(from 0.05 to 30 MPa). The internal layout of
the components makes it possible to reduced
internal friction by about 60% compared to
other electro-mechanical pressure switches
that are currently on sale. The 3-pole switch,
the heart of the device, can withstand vacuum
stress and low temperatures, which are typical
when used in aerospace circles. The current
that passes through the switch is between
7 A and 250 Vca, or 7 A and 28 Vcc, in a
temperature range of between -40 °C and
+120 °C. The use of new materials also allows
for a ten-fold reduction in the coefficient of
internal friction. As a result, the dissipation of
energy inside the device is drastically reduced,
making it possible to save energy and,
therefore, CO
2
emissions in the
atmosphere to a wide
extent.
