Metal Work, a company
specializing in the pro-
duction of components
for automation, based in Conce-
sio (Brescia) with 40 subsidiaries
worldwide, is rapidly expanding its
range of electrically controlled ac-
tuators. In fact, although in most
applications, pneumatic actuators
are the most simple, economical
and reliable systems for perform
movements, there is a growing
need for the option of modifying
the strokes, speed and accelera-
tion. These requirements are met
by electric axes. For years Metal
Work has offered electric cylinders
with connection interfaces that
meet the ISO 15552 standard,
and are therefore dimensionally
interchangeable with pneumatic
cylinders. Today, new solutions
are available, making the Metal
Work range of electrical axes truly
extensive. Regarding motorization,
the motor can be chosen from
an optimized range that includes
stepper and brushless models. Cu-
stomers can also use brand-name
motors of their own choice. Se-
veral product lines are available.
The Elektro ISO15552 series of
electric cylinders, have diameters
ranging from 32 to 63, strokes up
to 1500 mm, axial thrusts up to
6,500 N, speeds from 0 to 2,000
mm/s; the advancing movement
of the stem is obtained with a sy-
stem of hardened recirculating ball
screws. The Elektro ISO15552
series, designed for higher loads,
offers diameters from 80 to 100
and axial thrusts up to 12,000 N.
The Elektro Round DC series for
non-continuous movements is dri-
ven by a DC motor, diameter 32,
with stroke up to 1,000 mm and
thrust up to 500 N. The electric
axes, which operate on recirculating
ball screws, will soon be available in
three sizes: the first available
size provides for pressures up
to 3,200 N and strokes up to
1,200 mm; the larger sizes are in
development. The electric axes dri-
ven by a toothed belt come in two
sizes, with strokes of up to 2,400
mm and speeds of up to 2.3 m/s.
These actuators can be combined
together, and can also be joined to
pneumatic actuators, thanks to the
modular V-Lock system, making it
possible to build multi-axis manipu-
lators.

do la propria offerta di attuatori
a comando elettrico. Infatti, an-
che se nella maggior parte delle
applicazioni gli attuatori pneuma-
tici costituiscono il sistema più
semplice, economico e affidabile
per eseguire movimenti, sta cre-
scendo parallelamente l’esigenza
di eseguire posizionamenti con
possibilità di modificare le corse,
le velocità e le accelerazioni. Que-
ste esigenze vengono soddisfatte
da assi elettrici. Già da anni Me-
tal Work propone cilindri elettrici
con interfaccia rispondente alla
norma ISO 15552, quindi dimen-
sionalmente intercambiabili con
i cilindri pneumatici. Ora vengo-
no proposte altre soluzioni, per
cui la gamma di assi elettrici della
Metal Work è divenuta veramente
ampia. Relativamente alla motoriz-
zazione, il motore può essere scel-
to all’interno di una gamma otti-
mizzata, che comprende motori
passo-passo e motori brushless.
Possono essere utilizzati anche
motori di marche scelta dal clien-
te. Diverse sono le famiglie propo-
ste. I cilindri elettrici serie Elektro
ISO15552, hanno diametri da
32 a 63, corse sino a 1.500 mm
spinte assiali sino a 6.500 N,
velocità da 0 a 2.000 mm/s; il
movimento di avanzamento del-
lo stelo è ottenuto con sistema
a vite temprata e chiocciola con
ricircolo di sfere. I cilindri elettri-
ci serie Elektro ISO15552 per
carichi elevati, hanno diametri da
80 a 100 e spinte assiali sino a
12.000 N. I cilindri elettrici serie
Elektro Round DC, per movimenti
non continuativi, sono azionati da
un motore in corrente continua,
diametro 32, corsa sino a 1.000
mm e spinta sino a 500 N. Gli assi
elettrici azionati con vite e chioc-
ciola a ricircolo di sfere, sono in
tre taglie: la prima taglia disponi-
bile, prevede spinte sino a 3.200
N e corse sino a 1.200 mm; se-
guirà lo sviluppo delle taglie mag-
giori. Gli assi elettrici azionati con
cinghia dentata, sono in due ta-
glie, con corse sino a 2.400 mm
e velocità sino a 2,3 m/s. Questi
attuatori sono combinabili tra lo-
ro e possono essere uniti anche
ad attuatori pneumatici grazie
al sistema modulare V-Lock, per
comporre manipolatori a più assi.
