Cutting edge measurement from Alicona

Alicona presents EdgeMasterX, a 3D cutting edge measurement system for production integrated quality assurance of cutting tools and equipments. The system allows to measure user defined edge parameters for quality production of inserts, drills, millers and others tap tools. EdgeMasterX enables automatic multi edge measurement on various tool positions, and in addition form and roughness of a specific position can be analyzed and compared across multiple tools within a batch.

In combination with a motorized rotation unit, multiple tool edges measurements are also possible, even chamfered edges, in one single run and with a user-friendly single button solution for all programmed measurements, not requiring further interactions. EdgeMasterX is an enhancement of the original EdgeMaster, and both systems enable traceable and repeatable measurements, even when vibrations, changing temperatures and ambient light are incurred, measuring several edge parameters such as radii, angles, chipping, wear and roughness. Deviations from a CAD dataset are easily visible using a traffic light system, indicating differences and non-conformities.
