Turning with Sandvik eight-edged inserts

Posted 11 May 2016

Sandvik Coromant presents CoroTurn 300, suited for longitudinal and face turning of steel, with eight-edged 80° inserts, a tool perfect for high volume outer diameter steel turning applications. The system is designed to achieve outstanding performance and higher component quality, increasing handling efficiency and extending tool life.

Stable insert clamping is ensured thanks to iLock interface, a system that securely locks inserts in place to prevent cutting forces from affecting tool position, providing tool accuracy within ±.002 in (±0.05 mm), giving the operator indexing repeatability for better surface finish. The eight-edged inserts are available in grades GC4325 and GC4315 featuring Inveio coating, a uni-directional crystal orientation for high wear resistance and long tool life. The insert design has excellent chip breaking capabilities and less carbide per edge, with less material to waste or recycle. Chip breaking control at last is ensured through high-precision (HP) over and under coolant, for secure machining and temperature control for long and predictable tool life.
