Seventh axis by Rollon to increase robot’s action radius
The Italian international group Rollon launched during the last Hannover Messe 2017 its Seventh Axis shuttle system, offering an additional axis to move anthropomorphic robots that weigh up to 2.000 kg over long distances, with elevated dynamics. The solution is the outcome of the company’s 40 years of experience in linear motion, producing linear rails, telescopic rails and actuators, and represents an ideal solution in all situations that need an additional axis to increase the robot’s action radius, such as painting, welding or gluing in the automotive sector.
Designed for easy integration into any type of robot, the frame is made up of anodized aluminum profiles that offer considerable benefits in terms of weight, transportability and modularity, while maintaining a high degree of stiffness. Versions are available with single profile or double profile and connecting crosspieces. The linear rails have either a roller recirculation system or a ball recirculation system, and use a pinion and ground rack with inclined teeth. With two different configurations of adjustable feet, the misalignment can even be managed on irregular surfaces, thus allowing to easily and rapidly assemble the system without absolutely impairing its efficiency.
The Seventh Axis range is structured in seven different solutions that can be combined with different robots. Three protection methods are designed to ensure efficient operations even in the dirtiest environments, ranging from light protection along the rack to a cover with axis that can be trampled. The latter is the ideal solution for applications entailing more processing residue, such as welding operations. The system can be configured for assembly with tracks on the ground, walls or ceiling.
