Locking cylinder with manual release SMC
SMC has developed the MWB series locking cylinder where the lock is separated and can be manually operated with a hexagon wrench. The MWB series cylinders lock at any desired stroke position for drop prevention, and can be used as emergency stop or where intermediate stops are necessary.
The series consists of a built-in manual lock release holding mechanism and there is an option of releasing the locked state with a hexagon wrench and hold the released state without pressurizing the unlock port. Maintenance of these cylinders has been made easy thanks to separate construction of lock unit and the cylinder. The cylinders are much more compact, offering an overall length reduced by 13 mm max, and improved holding force by up to 14% compared to the earlier MNB series.
The locking unit offers a holding force of 6.080 N and stopping accuracy within ±1 mm, and can be ordered separately so that it can be also employed with others cylinders and components, as well as with others actuators. The condition of the lock release bolt allows for visual confirmation of wether the cylinder is in a locked or manual lock release state.
