Eaton smart electronic motor starter
The multifunctional electronic motor starter with SmartWire connectivity by Eaton enhances switching devices with advanced communication capabilities, increasing reliability and full availability of machinery. The SmartWire-DT enhanced starter documents and communicates relevant data to the EMS, such as motor current, overload and diagnostic data, providing infos to an application for further processing, also transferring them to common industrial fieldbuses via gateways.
Decentralised intelligence also allows new possibilities for preventive maintenance, indicating critical motor load states preventing motor protection function triggering and the associated actuator failure, facilitating diagnostic and maintenance of machines and equipments. The compact motor starter also combines in a compact multifunctional device, with a width of 30 mm, direct motor start, reverse motor start, motor protection and safe shutdown compliant to Category 3 (EN 13849-1). The solution reduces wiring costs up to 60%, and by the 70% the number of components required, lowering spare parts stocking and increasing predicted lifespan compared with conventional switchgear devices.
