Woodworking machinery Made in Italy on growthERT

Orders for Italian woodworking machinery grew by +18,3% in the third quarter of 2016 according to Acimall, the italian woodworking machinery and tools manufacturer’s association, with a significant contribution given by the italian market, with orders increased by a solid +28,8%, after 30,4% in the April-June period. A slight decrease in international markets, which in the same period decreased by -3,1% compared to the same quarter of 2015, while orders in the previous quarter of 2016 had increased by 17,2%. The italian sector continues exporting over 75% of 1.800 million euro of its production, and Acimall’s figures indicate that revenues have increased by 15,8%, and that orders book covers 3 months.

“We are experiencing an unexpected adjustment of our economic scenario – says Lorenzo Primultini, Acimall president -, although we had been waiting for a rally of investments by our entrepreneurs. In this quarter there is a clear evidence that our industry is much livelier, also as a result of positive effects of Italian government measures and the necessity to renew and upgrade machinery and plants after postponing for several years. In addition, the Industria 4.0 National Plan can be a further lever to improve our results in the domestic market”.

The forecast survey carried by Acimall’s Studies Office sees a 39% of the interviewees believing that foreign orders will grow in the future, while 56% of them see a period of stability. Only 5% expect a decrease, and a similar share of 5% predict a decrease in domestic orders. A 67% see a stability ahead, and 28% expect an enduring period of growth.
