Truck Hyster wins Good Design award

Posted 1 July 2016

The Tier 4 Final ReachStacker RS45-46 by Hyster won a 2015 Good Design award, presented by the Chicago Athenaeum of Architecture and design, for the efficient engine technology and productivity enhancing design. ReachStacker is engineered for the maximum maneuverability, with class leading lifting speeds and excellent stacking capabilities, able to stack up to five containers and three rows deep, ideal for demanding port and terminal applications.

The performances are achieved thanks to a Tier 4 Final Cummins QSL 9L engine, rated at 350 hp, and a 4-speed Spicer Off-Highway TE 32 powershift transmission. The truck features an integrated drivetrain with an emission reduction package, and is designed to decrease fuel consumption up to 20% over previous Tier 3 engines. An on-demand cooling system, with hydraulically powered fan, maintain optimum cooling further lowering fuel consumption, and the series also includes a load sensing on-demand hydraulic system, and automatic throttle-up, that automatically increases engine throttle to match desired hydraulic speed, keeping the engine in its most efficient power band.
