The Timken Company opened a new bearing plant in Europe, its second plant in Romania, near Ploiesti, for the production of tapered roller bearings. The new facility will caters the global demand for highly engineered Timken tapered roller bearings, in sizes up to 300 mm in diameter. With a cost of nearly $60 million, the state-of-the-art facility is located on a 15.000 sqm site, and initially will employ 120 associates. The facility strengthens the company’s footprint in Europe, and further equips it to meet local and global customer needs.
The investment further advances the company’s strategic growth path, which includes geographic expansion, competitive manufacturing and accelerating product development-to-commercialization activities. Timken tapered roller bearings are critical mechanical components found, for example, in industrial geardrives and off-highway applications that include construction and agricultural equipment, haul trucks and cranes. The plant directly serves original equipment manufacturers in a wide range of industrial segments, and reach end users through the company’s global network of industrial distributors.
