Convergent modeling represents a new modeling paradigm that simplifies the ability to work with geometry consisting of a combination of facets, surfaces and solids, without requiring time-consuming data conversion. The technology helps engineers optimize part design for 3D printing, speeds up the overall design process removing limitations of traditional CAD technologies when trying to optimize designs for additive manufacturing.

Convergent modeling gives designers the flexibility to rapidly create new optimal shapes leveraging the materials and techniques made available through additive manufacturing. It also simplifies the process of working with scanned data, working efficiently with facet geometry by reducing the need for rework in reverse engineering bringing scanned data in as facets that can be worked directly in NX 11, without map surfaces, solids creation of any other manual shape creation. Combined with the new 3D Print function in NX 11, the scan, edit and print workflow, using Microsoft 3D print capabilities, enables to print 3D designs directly from NX, also supporting 3MF format for wide compatibility.

In addition, NX 11 includes multiple enhancements throughout the integrated CAD, CAM and CAE solution, such as a next generation 3D CAE, powered by Simcenter 3D software, and improved CAM productivity with tools like robotics machining and hybrid additive manufacturing.

The post Convergent modeling, Siemens innovates 3D manufacturing appeared first on Meccanica Plus.

<!-- Performance optimized by W3 Total Cache.
