Structural adhesives Huntsman improved

Posted 20 June 2016

Huntsman Advanced Materials launched the structural adhesives Araldite 2021-1 and Araldite 2022-1, replacing Araldite 2021 and Araldite 2022 with improved performances. The new two-component, toughened, methacrylate adhesives are now produced in a consolidated one dedicated plant in the EU, simplifying Huntsman internal supply chain ensuring faster deliveries to customers.

Features of the renewed adhesives include improved elongation at break, notable toughness and resilience to vibrations, dynamic loading, mechanical impact and assembly of dissimilar substrates. The design casing has been innovated with a redesigned application noozle, to stop cross-contamination between the resin and the activator, thus preventing the cartridge to be blocked by cured adhesive residues after the use. Both products offer non sagging and gap-filling properties, enabling easy processing and allowing vertical applications, and also deliver good lap shear strength across a variety of substrates, and a wide range of temperatures, offering temperature resistance of up to 100°C, and tolerance of non-ideal surfaces for increased productivity.
