Comau extends its small robot family for quick applications in restricted spaces, including handling, assembly and pick&place, by introducing two robots built on the Racer3 technological platform. The Racer5-0.63 and Robot5-0.80 models are both controlled by the R1C 19” rack-mounted controller, which can be integrated into a single cabinet to control an entire line.
The robots are also available in openRobotics version, allowing the integration of the robot into an existing machine/line automation controlled by B&R technologies. Being built on Racer3 platform, the robots share the same components and parts, in a strategy aimed at expanding the integrated range of robots. The two models expand the capacity of Racer3 in terms of payload and reach: Racer5-0.63 features a reach of 630 mm and payload of 5 kg, while Racer5-0.80, also rated for a payload of 5 kg, has an extended reach of 809 mm. All the other features remain the same of Racer3, including sectors and applications. Here’s a video of the two robots in action:
