Red Bull Racing Team Formula One extended the agreement with Ansys, employing its simulation softwares in aerodynamic design aimed to optimize its vehicle design enhancements, giving the team a competitive edge on the track. Ansys computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and high-performance computing (HPC) software are crucial for the F1 team to simulate air flows around its vehicle designs, under a range of conditions.
Simulation is essential due to limited physical testing available and impending race deadlines, in order to select and optimize designs for aero-critical components and assemblies, such as braking, cooling and exhaust systems. The close work between Ansys and the constructor is indeed very successful in the collaboration, to manage and deliver Red Bull Racing’s extensive CFD requirements, integrating virtual simulation and analysis in the design process, and leveraging Ansys simulation technology, offering cutting-edge, fast and reliable tools to maximize the competitive advantage on track.
