The Shell Tellus portfolio of Shell Lubricants helps companies protecting their machinery in moulding injection operations of plastic materials. In particular, the employ of Shell Tellus S4 ME in injection moulding machines allows to increase energy efficiency up to 4%, significantly reducing the management costs.

The data of the report ‘Optimise today, accelerate tomorrow’ by Shell showcase that an improper maintenance can lead to productivity losses from 5 to 20%, stating also that 50 to 70% of damages to equipments are related to the bad conditions of the hydraulic oil. The range of Shell Tellus hydraulic fluids, which the company is developing since more than 70 years, offers a formulation that specifically meet the needs of modern hydraulic plants.

The Shell Tellus S4 ME hydraulic oil ensure for example an extended oil life 10 times higher compared to the minimum working life of the standard oil usually employed in injection moulding machines. Despite the hydraulic oil represents only 1-2% of the overall cost of operations, a proper choice of the oil helps owners of injection moulding machines to contain costs related to unplanned equipment downtimes, protecting the assets from wear and optimizing the processes and productivity efficiency.
