Alfa Laval enriched the PureSOx platform with PureSOx Global, a scrubber ready for 0,5% sulfur fuels compliance. The 0,5% sulfur fuel limit is anticipating the decisions to be taken at the October’s 2016 IMO’s Marine Environmental Protection Committee meeting. The latest addition of the exhaust gas scrubber line PureSox Global is taking its place alongside the existing PureSOx ECA system for 0,1% sulfur compliance, while PureSOx Flex system offers compliance at both levels.
Scrubbers are the proven route to compliance for owners or operators of big fleet, while the current PureSOx technology, now operating in over 70 proven systems, including the original pilot from 2009, will continue to be used throughout the expanded PureSOx platform. All versions are available in open-loop, closed-loop and hybrid arrangements, with either U-design or inline I-design scrubbers, and all models are intended to provide payback after a maximum of three years, even considering the smaller difference in price between 0,5% and 0,1% sulfur fuels compared to the difference between 0,1% sulfur fuel and HFO.
