Victrex announced the acquisition of Zyex, a global manufacturer of peek fiber solutions, principally for aerospace, automotive and industrial markets. The acquisition of Zyex, already a well-established and long-standing customer of Victrex, will allow the company to accelerate the development of differentiated peek-based solutions, to open-up new markets, strengthened with additional fiber products, applications expertise and resources from the Zyex team.
The investment will also enable Victrex to explore the potential of additive manufacturing within the fibers area, building on the Additive manufacturing consortium announced in 2016. Zyex product’s range is focused in peek polymer based fibers for applications such as process belting, filtration or wiring harnesses, with manufacturing facilities in Gloucestershire, UK. The operation builds on other recent Victrex investments, such as the February 2017 joint venture TxV Aero Composites with Tra-Mack plastics, to accelerate the commercial adoption of paek composite applications within the aerospace industry, and the investment in a minority interest in Magma Global Ltd, in December 2016, to facilitate the adoption of pioneering m-pipe technology for subsea oil and gas composite pipes.
