Kawasaki opened a new production facility in China, in the city of Suzhou, about 150 km from Shanghai. The plant has a production capacity of about 6.000 robots per year, specifically focused on CP palletizing, BA welding and CX handling and spot welding models manufacturing. The facility joins the main Kawasaki’s factory located in Japan, in the city of Akashi, near Kobe, which in turn will undergo readjustment based on the concept and experience acquired in the Suzhou unit.
This one introduces a concept of robots and workers collaboration on the production lines, where robots facilitate operators ensuring the final quality of production, and in addition the work environments are designed from an ergonomic point of view, regarding all the operations that cannot be performed automatically, such as laying internal cables and the manipulation of tightening screws inside the robot. The line works in mix and simultaneously with several robot models, according to incoming order batches, and a further expansion is expected in the future, in order to double the production capacity of the Suzhou facility.
