Mobility 4.0, Hexagon acquires ViresERT

Hexagon expands its simulation platform by accelerating its autonomous driving strategy for the future of mobility 4.0 with the acquisition of Vires. The German company Vires is a worldwide provider of simulation software systems that support the development, testing and validation of driver-assisted and fully autonomous driving technology. The company’s simulation solutions are recognized for their performance and ease of building simulation environments for over 20 years. Vires’ core product is Virtual test drive (VTD), that supports a wide range of additional tools and services.

The company is also a main contributor to the industrial consortia behind interoperability standards, playing a driving force role in automotive simulator technology. The acquisition strengthens Hexagon’s CAE platform, supporting its overall autonomous X vision to deliver a software-driven, intelligent ecosystem that leverages the company’s expertise in 3D mapping and other essential sensor technologies to make safe, autonomous vehicles a reality. Vires’ worldwide customer list spans prominent automotive OEM and suppliers, as well as new entrants to the automotive market, to companies in the railway and aerospace industries, and elite universities involved in shaping the future of mobility.
