The Volkswagen Group chose Fidia high speed milling systems for two important new projects, following a detailed technical evaluation and a severe selection process involving all the leading European manufacturers. In particular, the Italian company Fidia will deliver and install two heavy high speed and highly automated Gantry type machines in the tool and die plant of Skoda in Mlada Bolestav, Czech Republic. The machines will be integrated in the Skoda plant FMS (flexible manufacturing system) allowing 24/7 operations.
In addition, one new very large size high speed gantry type machine will be delivered and installed in the Styling center of Seat in Barcelona. The machine will produce all of the new full scale models of cars and SUV for the final design evaluation and approval processes. Both project’s delivery is planned for the end of the next year.
The order acquisition on the period for Fidia has then been very good, amounting to 44,4 million euro by the end of November 2017, increased in comparison to the 23,4 million registered at the same period of the previous year. Fidia management expects a significant improvement on revenues and profit for the next calendar year, also due to the fact that the new production plant in Forlì is now fully operational.
