Danfoss introduces the Z-design microplates heat exchangers series, more compact and efficient thanks to an innovative dimple based plate pattern, which promotes an asymmetric Z-shaped flow of fluid across the plates. The special design maximizes the heat transfer surface and ensures that liquid and vapor phases of the refrigerant remain well mixed in chillers, leading to an even thermal contact with the water side of the system.
These features mean that the same heat transfer capacity can be achieved with fewer plates and allowing a more compact design, reducing the quantity of raw materials and refrigerant, increasing sustainability. The solution is suitable for both retrofitting and new installations, for example in applications for smart buildings and energy efficient building concepts, for heat recovery from chillers in data centers and district heating systems. The Z-design series includes different sizes and capacities, is compatible with other Danfoss products and is suitable for use in oil-free systems.
