Many laser innovations have been showcased at the May-June edition of Lasys 2016, the V edition of the trade fair for laser material processing at Messe Stuttgart. A total of 181 exhibitors from 15 countries presented solutions, methods and applications using the laser as a diverse tool in industrial manufacturing, on over 3.800 sqm of exhibition space. Two special joint stands highlighted the international character of the event, the International Pavilion with 10 participants from four countries, and the french joint Espace Laser s’invite sur Lasys, with eight exhibitors that will also be represented at the Espace Laser in Strasbourg, from 19-21 September in 2017, and at the beginning of 2017 making an appearance at Photonics West.
Among new developments and innovations seen at Lasys 2016, the additive manufacturing machine TruPrint 1000 by Trumpf, that generates components from metal powder using a laser beam, the Fanuc YLR fibre laser, with a demonstration cell with fibre laser and two robots for cutting pipe sections, and the Laserline CCA12 water-air cooler, seen together with the fibre-coupled high performance diode laser LDF 11.600-60. The German Engineering Federation (Vdma), conceptual supporter of the trade fair, at last took into account the young talents in the industry by offering young visitors a playful access to the future technology of photonics.
