PTC has acquired the american Kepware, a software development company for communications connectivity in industrial automation environments, increasing the PTC portfolio of Internet of things (IoT). The agreement has been closed for approximately $100 million, plus an additional $18 million based on the achievement of certain strategic initiatives and financial results. The Kepware flagship product is KepServerEX, for the connection of disparate devices and control systems, creating a single source of industrial data for users.
KepServerEX will become a strategic component of PTC ThingWorx IoT technology platform, and once the integration will be completed, machine data aggregated into ThingWorx will integrate a wide array of internal and external informations, ready to be automatically analyzed, using ThingWorx machine learning capabilities, enabling enterprises to proactively optimize mission-critical processes. Industrial environments already leveraging Kepware technology will benefit from the added breadth of IoT capabilities available in the PTC ThingWorx, providing PTC customers a fast-to-value connectivity option to gain visibility into data from a vast range of industrial controls and production equipments.
