The Italian company MadeInAdd made its official international launch at Formnext 2023, presenting its offer of innovative services and consultancy for companies entering the world of additive manufacturing. And an ad hoc training courses.

Filling the Italian gap towards additive manufacturing: this is the ambitious goal of MadeInAdd, born in June 2022 from a joint project between the Boost Innovation Fund – corporate venture builder of CDP Venture; MIMETE – producer of metal powders for the additive manufacturing market; and PUNCH Torino – a company specialized in the development of innovative propulsion systems, already active in the additive manufacturing field.

MadeInAdd additive manufacturing consulenza servizi Formnext Gerardo Di Filippo“We aim to accelerate transition towards the adoption of additive technologies through an offer that goes beyond the simple production of parts – explains Gerardo Di Filippo, CEO of MadeInAdd -. We therefore also offer a path towards this different way of thinking and creating components thanks to the engineering consultancy guaranteed by our team of engineers. We are also working on a training offer that allows customers to get even closer to the world of additives”.

The point of contact between customers and MadeInAdd starts immediately from the company website. The first and most obvious feature is the presence of the button to obtain an instant quote quickly and completely. By uploading file and selecting materials, printing technologies, any use parameters of the component and further required processes, it is possible to obtain a precise cost calculation.
The main menu has three distinct items:

  • Print – Through a wide network of partners, MadeInAdd offers different 3D printing methods on countless materials. The user can choose the technology based on their needs or filter through a series of parameters to identify the most suitable one.
  • Re-design – Upon request, MadeInAdd engineers are available to evaluate the characteristics of the 3D file provided by the customer and redesign it from an additive perspective, thus maximizing the typical benefits of this technology (reduction in weight, production times and related costs, but also reduced material consumption with consequent greater sustainability of both the process and the final product).
  • Trasform – Often the best way to fully exploit the possibilities offered by additive manufacturing is to completely rethink a component. The MadeInAdd technical team can take care of the management of one or more parts, designed on the basis of other manufacturing technologies (removal, deformation, etc.) and develop them to obtain the advantages of additive manufacturing.

For those who want to test the different functions but do not have a suitable 3D file, MadeInAdd has provided a demonstration component on its website that can be loaded and viewed on the practical 3D Viewer. Materials, printing technologies, mechanical and thermal resistance characteristics can be set by continuing on the next page.

“We boast a vast network of partners equipped with the most diverse 3D printing technologies – confirms Di Filippo -. We position ourselves as a reference to guarantee the quality of the final output, which can include dimensional, geometric or density tests. Once the print has been confirmed, the customer receives the part in approximately 9/10 working days”.

MadeInAdd also guarantees a very clear privacy and intellectual property policy. Once a piece is printed, the relevant file is deleted from the company’s servers. Clearly, any redesigned 3D file remains an asset of the customer. Speaking of innovative services, part screening is already attracting considerable interest. Customers who turn to MadeInAdd can have the components they have in stock evaluated – typically spare parts – to determine which ones to include in a digital inventory. The production of those parts will be launched only on request, thus alleviating inventory costs while maintaining the highest level of flexibility and availability.
