Electric motors, Grob acquires DMG meccanica

The German machine tools constructor Grob acquired 100% shares in Italian DMG meccanica, specialized in machinery and plant manufacture for the production of stators for electric motors, alternators and generators. The acquisition will strengthen Grob’s r&d work in electro mobility, expanding its portfolio especially in the automotive industry, a sector facing an important transformation with the increasing relevance of electro mobility and the massively increased number of inquiries fielded by Grob for projects involving electric drives.

The future collaboration will be a win-win situation for both partners: Grob has secured further know-how in the field of electro mobility, and DMG meccanica has found in Grob a strong and globally oriented partner for series production. Further investments are planned to expand these technologies in the field of electro mobility at both sites in Turin and Mindelheim. DMG Meccanica will remain an independent company within the Grob-Group, and the owners Mauro Marzolla (in photo on the right with Christian Grob) and Marco Debilio will continue to be co-ceo’s of the company. DMG meccanica achieved a 2016 total turnover of 10 million euro, has a workforce of 40 employees and its customer portfolio includes many well-known electric motor manufacturers and suppliers to the automotive industry. Financial advisor of the operation was Translink Corporate Finance.
