Okuma and Sandvik Coromant presented together, in an event held last July 9th at Okuma Technical Centre South in Langenau, a range of digital manufacturing solutions for the machine tools sector.
The Okuma’s 3D Virtual Monitor allows manufacturers to simulate and test the entire machining process in advance, enabling transparent processes and a complete visualization of the production, avoiding costly programming errors and shortening setup times. The Okuma’s software-based solution Connect Plan allows to connect machine tools, also third-party machines, to collect their data and visualize production processes, linking each workpiece to its machining data and measurement results for full traceability. In addition, the data collected is used for predictive maintenance of the machines.
Okuma is also a single-source provider that supply CNC controls from its own production. In particular, the intelligent control OSP-P300A was developed especially to satisfy the latest production requirements, providing an efficiency boost with a new shared database, reducing unnecessary programming operations and shortening setup times.
Okuma and Sandvik also gave a demonstration on the perfect harmony between hardware and software with their Silent Tools Plus technology and an Okuma Multus U4000 multitasking machine, with the monitoring of cutting process data for the complete elimination of vibrations occurring during the internal turning of thin components.
