Cylindrical grinding Studer extended
Studer extended the functionality of its S11, the smallest production cylindrical grinding machine in the company portfolio. The grinding machine now combines standard programming using StuderWIN focus with the possibility of offline programming, thanks to the combination of the StuderGRIND software, made up of a variety of new modules available on request, with a Fanuc 0i-TF control.
Thanks to the combination of a Fanuc control and StuderGRIND, the S11 now makes HSG machining possible with CBN grinding wheels, with grinding speeds of up to 140 m/s. A special high-speed spindle has also been designed for the S11, supporting HSG and allowing the machine to achieve extremely high abrasion performances in a minimum amount of space. In addition, the S11 now also enables typical C-axis applications, such as thread and form grinding, thanks to a new version of the workhead with C-axis function combined with the software modules StuderThread and StuderForm.
Studer also designed a new casing, boosting process automation capabilities of the S11, so that the cylindrical grinding machine is now offered in two versions: the existing one is specially designed for manual handling or for combination with small handling systems. The new casing is optimized for vertical loading with a top hatch, perfectly suited for inter-linked production with load/unload operations via portal cranes. Both designs offer excellent accessibility and ergonomic features, maintaining the same small footprint.
