Still reached a milestone in its corporate production history with the 500.000th counterbalance truck, produced in its Hamburg factory. The company started in 1920 as a repair workshop for electric motors. Guided by its founder Hans Still, expanded its business rapidly, and in 1932 moved to the present headquarter in Hamburg, where the first truck, the EGS 1.000 was developed in 1949.
Since then, Still followed its technological path concentrating in responsibility toward the environment, developing energy saving technologies for low energy consumption and low co2 emissions, such as drive systems with hybrid technology, fuel cell technology and lithium-ion batteries. In 1983 the first prototype of hybrid truck was presented, introducing the Full-Hybrids trucks offered today to the market, enhanced with energy recovery solutions, with electric brakes converting kinetic energy into electric energy to be stored. The 500.000th anniversary truck was a Still RX 60-25 electric truck, handed over to Chemion Logistik, a logistic services company for chemical industry and alike sectors, cooperating with Still since almost 40 years, actually working with a truck fleet of 770 Still trucks.
