IMI Precision Engineering revised its IMI Buchjost control valve replacing the DC motor with long-life stepper motor and a newly developed control card, increasing control and speed. The replacement brings benefits firstly thanks to reduced manufacturing tolerances, due to factory calibration of each stepper motor, improving regulation performance.
Functioning of the valve is then ensured even under difficult conditions: the electronic control unit detects increased load torques, for example due to a downtime or an operating pressure above 10 bar, and increases the motor current gradually up to the maximum possible overload torque. In case of a blockage of the valve, the user is alerted by a flashing red LED bulb. The drive completed with stepper motor and control card for the integrated positioner also increases the drive’s speed, requiring only 5 seconds for the full travel range of the stepper motor to be reached. Users can also draw useful information from the position feedback signal with 4-20 or 0-20 mA, for further control of the application. Following the 9650 DC motor, in the medium term also the 9651 model will then be replaced by a stepper motor.
