Compressors Mattei in foundries

Posted 8 March 2016

Mattei compressors series M135 have special set-ups intended for aluminium foundries. Here, several critical elements are involved, such as high temperatures up to 90°C, because of the heat produced by the aluminium smelting process. In addition, there is presence of high amounts of dust and solid particulates, due to the use of thick layers of alumina as thermal insulator covering the smelting tanks, the chemical substances bound with oil or humidity in the environment, particularly corrosive, and the presence of high magnetic fields, altering electronic devices operations.

In the Mattei compressors series M135 oil circuit, cooling system and electrical parts, copper components of the motors and the magnetic sheets, are properly dimensioned to overcome the temperature problem. Blades are made of aluminium, protected from dust and sand corrosion, and motor casings are coated in order to avoid formation and accumulation of condensate, while stainless steel and aluminium are employed instead of other subject to corrosion alloys. Finally, a two-stage filtration system filters the incoming air from alumina powder, and the electronic control systems are remoted in acclimatised areas.
