JEC Group announced the 13 Composite innovation champions for the JEC Innovation Awards that will be presented during the JEC World 2017 at the Paris Nord Villepinte Exhibition Centre, from 14 to 16 March. The JEC Innovation Awards reward the best composite breakthrough based on their technical interest, market potential, partnerships, financial & environmental impact and originality.
In the composite world, the growth of manufacturing processes for large series is triggering a more massive use of composites, leading to a change of scale in the industry, especially in certain mass production sectors such as automotive, where mergers and acquisitions are reconfiguring the supply chain of automotive suppliers and raw materials producers.
The market trend is clearly illustrated by the high number of submissions to the Awards coming from the automotive industry. Among the awarded applications, in various fields such as aeronautics, automotive, construction, marine and better living, a winning project comes also from Italy, with the Politecnico di Milano 3d printing project using the Kuka Atropos robotic arm for smart manufacturing of continuous-fibre composites.
