Cleanroom applications with Universal Robots
The robot arms and accompanying controller boxes by Universal Robots have received the TÜV SÜD certification in accordance with VDI 2083 Part 9.1 for applications in cleanroom environments. In compliance with the industrial norm ISO 14644-1 the robots UR3, UR5 and UR10 are now authorized for global use in cleanroom environments of the cleanroom class ISO 5. The controller box has received authorization for cleanroom class ISO 6, and it may also be upgraded for deployment in cleanroom class ISO 5 with a few technical modifications.
The certification paves the way for a great number of new application opportunities for Universal Robot’s robotic arms an controller boxes, in areas where purity and hygiene are decisive criteria for precise automation processes, involving aspects such as particle emission, easy-to-clean surfaces and extreme reliability. UR robots can now increasingly be deployed in laboratory automation as well as throughout the medical and pharmaceutical sectors, in food industry, in the production of microchips and semiconductors and in electrical and opto-electrical industries.
