Automated driving, ZF acquires 45% stake in AstyxERT

ZF has acquired approximately 45% of the shares in Astyx Communication & Sensors, preparing to develop together advanced radar technology solutions for automated driving systems. The company is thus expanding its research and development activities in a key technology aera for environmental and object detection. The Astyx radar technology ideally complements ZF’s radar solutions currently utilized for driver assistance functions such as distance control.

The fusion of radar, Lidar and camera sensors will allow to deliver environmental detection functionality essential for advanced safety and autonomous driving. Together with ZF, Astyx will develop the next generation of radar sensors for vehicle manufacturers globally designed to deliver even more precise images of the short and long-range environment, reinforcing the environmental awareness of future cars, with heightened intelligence and sensing capability according to the ZF’s ‘See – think – act’ principle.
