Additive manufacturing, complete solution Siemens PLMERT

Rolling out in January 2017, Siemens PLM Software introduces its complete solution for the additive manufacturing, covering the whole manufacturing process: integrated generative design, simulation, digital manufacturing and data and process management. The integrated solution will use smart models through all phases, not requiring for conversion between applications or processes.

Two key technologies of the integrated release are Convergent Modeling and topology optimization, enabling automated generative design to optimize part design for 3D printing by creating organic shapes that would be difficult or even impossible to envision or to produce with traditional manufacturing processes. Combined with the new Siemens’ advanced additive manufacturing software, this technology could enable companies to reshape everything for optimal performance at a reduced cost. In addition, the ability to 3D print an optimized part shape, also thanks to a new 3D print preparation solution for both metal and plastic parts, could reduce the number of parts in an assembly, thereby decreasing weight and increasing strength.

Siemens’ additive manufacturing solution will include Siemens’ NX software for integrated computer-aided design, manufacturing and engineering (CAD, CAM, CAE), the Simcenter portfolio suite for simulation and test, Teamcenter, for digital lifecycle management, and Simatic IT Unified discrete manufacturing and Simatic WinCC, two elements of Siemens’ Manufacturing Operations Management (MOM) portfolio for production execution and manufacturing automation.
