Subsea Victrex oil&gas composite pipe

Posted 22 July 2016

Magma Global Limited has partnered with Victrex to develop m-pipe, the longest composite subsea intervention line for oil & gas operations based on Victrex Peek polymer. The m-pipe is a lightweight continuous pipe, both the largest and longest structure ever achieved with the support and expertise of Victrex, in a composite material based on Victrex Peek polymer, carbon and glass fibres, that can be deployed to depths of 10.000 feet (3.000 m) and handle pressures of up to 15ksi (kilopounds per square inch), allowing efficient and high-flow rate pumping of intervention fluids thanks to the smooth Peek bore.

Magma is offering the m-pipe and integrated deployment package as a vessel back-deck system, for rapid hydraulic light well intervention, also suitable for small vessels. The solution can be rented as a complete deployment package from Magma, on either as short-term campaign or annual contract basis, allowing to intervene in subsea completions continuously and efficiently, minimizing mobilization times and maximizing vessel utilization by lowering hydraulic pumping time, reducing intervention costs by up to 30%. The Victrex Peek based composite, compared to steel pipe, also delivers low fatigue, high corrosion resistance and light weight, for ease installation and reduced pipe stress.
