Rexroth driver-less container moving

Posted 29 January 2016

The partnership between Bosch Rexroth and Terex Port Solutions aimed to the fulfillment of the automated guided electric vehicles moving containers around the Hamburg port area, completely driver-less. The vehicles move precisely and without emissions, thanks to the electric drive and using Rexroth’s HNC100-3x axis control, achieving precise hydraulic steering and transporting payloads up to 70 tons, between the quay and the storage areas.

The Rexroth technology is scalable and programmable and can also be integrated in existing motion control architectures. Communications with the central PLC are quick and fault-free, while the axles suddenly assume the right and specified steering angle. Terex Port Solutions also chose the Rexroth technology thanks to its high reliability, also in use 24/7 and 365 days per year, and in challenging rugged industrial setting of a marine port, like that at the Hhla Container Terminal Altenwerder (CTA) in Hamburg.
