Corporate sustainability, Prima Industrie joins United Nations Global Compact
Prima Industrie announced that it has joined the United Nations Global Compact, the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative for the development, implementation and disclosure of responsible business practices.
Launched in 2000, the UN Global Compact is an international network made up of companies, governments, institutions and organizations, whose commitment is to share, promote and implement the principles and values for the adoption of common policies in support of sustainability, embodied in the ten universal principles in the areas of human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption. With this announcement, Prima Industrie joins over 15,000 organizations in over 160 countries actively committed to creating an economic, social and environmental framework to promote a healthy and sustainable world economy that guarantees everyone the opportunity to share its benefits.
“Joining the Global Compact strengthens our sustainable and inclusive growth strategy and our commitment to create value for customers and stakeholders without generating negative impacts on the environment and the community – says Gianfranco Carbonato, executive chairman of Prima Industrie -. We are aware of the key role that manufacturing companies play in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals and in creating new business models that allow for fair and responsible development. Finding the right balance between environmental and business sustainability is the biggest challenge we are called to face with a great sense of responsibility: the future of the planet and of the younger generations depends on us”.
