PTC joined the 3MF Consortium as founding member, an industry association aimed to develop and promote a new full-fidelity file format for 3D printing. PTC is committed to bringing visibility of manufacturing capabilities to the design engineer and streamlining the overall design-to-3D print process. The 3MF Consortium was created to close the gap between the capabilities of modern 3D printers and the outdated file formats, thanks to specifications that eliminate many of the problems associated with available file formats, interoperability and functionality issues.
PTC’s Creo CAD software offer capabilities designed to streamline additive manufacturing, thanks to the single environment Design for additive manufacturing within Creo, that enables users to design, optimize, prepare and validate designs for 3D printing. With its innovative technology platforms and solutions for IoT developed, PTC will become an important contributor in 3FM to develop an end-to-end global additive manufacturing solution. The first version of the 3MF specification is already available for download at no charge.
