Vacupredator: manipulating flexible containers Vacupredator undoubtedly ranks as one of Vuototecnica’s flagship products. Created to make it possible to take hold of bags, sacks and other paper or pla- stic containers holding powders, gra- nules, loose items and liquids, Vacupre- dator is ideal for moving flowpacks and more generally for all packaging that is flexible or has irregular edges. The suction cups are made of anodised alu- minium, they have a jointed plate inside and a seal made of a special spongy rubber which follows the creases that inevitably form when a flexible con- tainer is gripped, preventing any loss of suction around the edges. They are especially recommended for gripping flowpacks, flexible containers for phle- boclysis, packets of sweets and other confectionery, bags of plastic granules, cement, sugar, flour etc. New series of EGN solenoid valves The EGN series is made up of directly operated, two-position valves, and are perfect for all applications where suction needs to be controlled separately from the air intake into the circuit. This is par- ticularly important in the case of vacuum thermo-welders, degassers and auto- claves. Unlike other two-way valves on the market, the body of the EGN40 and EGN52 is made of solid aluminium. For Vuototecnica, this is a manufacturing choice aimed at preventing the forma- tion of micro-cracks in the body of the valve, such as those that tend to form in the production of pressure-cast bodies. This manufacturing solution also makes it possible to achieve and maintain a re- sidual working pressure of 0.5 mbar. The new valves in the EGN series work thanks to the pressure differential that exists between the pump or vacuum generator and the air intake pressure. The differential pressure is channelled to the servo-control: an actuator controls the shutter, without the need for com- pressed air or springs. In this way a par- ticularly high switching speed is maintai- ned, which is particularly advantageous in the case of intense work cycles in drainage systems. Implementation rates are indeed half those of pneumatically activated ball valves, which are very wi- dely used in drainage processes. It is, then, an ideal application for rapid emp- tying processes, for example in vacuum packaging.
