32 SPECIAL EMO 2023 Promotional message Losma, a leading company in the design and construction of filtration systems for the mechanical and machine tools industries, will be pres- ent at EMO Hannover, in Hall 6 Stand F24. The company’s mission when it was first established was to create a healthier working envi- ronment, focusing on filtration and the creation of a safe factory en- vironment. The company philosophy ‘Work clean, breathe healthy’ is evident in its ongoing efforts to find ever more efficient and adapt- able filtration solutions. High energy efficiency motors, washable filters and inverters that regulate energy consumption are just some of the devices used in Losma’s aspirator and purifier families to ensure that its systems fully comply with European regulations on environmental management. The Green Factory project In partnership with two other companies, Losma was awarded FAE Technology and Ma-El in 2021, a major Life funding from the European Union. Its Green Factory project was indeed singled out from among over 1,700 projects that were submitted to CINEA – the European Cli- mate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency. The idea is to provide an integrated environmental sanitation system which, through a series of air quality detectors located throughout the plant, constant- ly monitors the pollution parameters of the entire production site. Re- search activities have been aimed at reducing CO2 levels and eliminat- ing spores, mildew, odours and carcinogens, as well as removing viral loads and bacteria present in the air during the various manufactur- ing cycles. The air purification system uses a ‘hybrid’ technique: PCO (Photo-Catalytic Oxidation) technology, which integrates with UVC (Germicidal Ultraviolet-C) technology. Integration with IoT sensors and predictive models being developed through the use of a dashboard to analyse data collected at the plant will guarantee greater plant efficien- cy, high levels of energy savings and completely predictive, automated maintenance. A filtration unit at its heart After devoting a whole to studying, designing and researching suitable materials and technologies, Losma successfully launched its first pilot plant in July 2022, conceived using the new ‘Green Factory’ logic. The entire air purification system, complete with detection sensors, was installed at a company specialising in the production of moulds and equipment for cold forming metals. A complex and elaborate suction system that conveys over 15,000 cubic metres of air requiring treat- ment to the Argos Pro systems installed at the company. Argos Pro is the beating heart of the technology being developed around the Green Factory project. Conceived as a cartridge filtra- tion unit, it was originally designed for the purification of oil mists, va- pours and fumes from various mechanical manufacturing processes. It comes in three construction sizes with flow rates of between 3,000 and 15,000 m3/h, with different combinations of increasing filtration efficiency, reaching a maximum of 99.97%. It is equipped with a dig- ital display for viewing the main functions and the exclusive ‘Led Up’ system, so is able to signal the clogging status of the filter elements through three different colours. The whole system of suction and detection of air pollution parameters makes it possible to manage the system remotely and analyse all the data collected in real time, through a management panel and an ana- lytical dashboard. The supporting IoT sensors will collect various infor- mation from the manufacturing environment to enable new value-add- ed features on Losma filtration systems.
