Thanks to these re- sults, the Italian industry in this sector has once again confirmed its position among the main players on the international stage, ranking fourth in terms of produc- tion, exports, and consumption. How- ever, this year, although it is expected to end positively, there has been a marked slowdown in order intake during the first part of the year, driven by a general cli- mate of uncertainty. This picture emerges from the analysis conducted by Ucimu. 2023 closing forecasts According to forecasts prepared by the Ucimu Studies and Business Culture Center, 2023 should also end on a pos- itive note, although order intake during the first half of the year has shown signs of slowing down. Production is expected to reach 7,750 million euros, an increase of 6.5% compared to the previous year, marking a new all-time record in the his- tory of the Italian industry in this sector.
