Steel mill and environment in ABS

ABS – Acciaierie Bertoli Safau, Danieli Group, achieved ISO 5001:2011 certification for its energy management system, and started 10 sustainability and energy efficiency projects in their own steel mill plants. Among them, the innovative Rotoforge is a plant with low environmental impact, aimed to produce the same internal quality in cast materials achievable by forging, but employing a rolling process, with much lower energy consumption.

The optimization of the energy efficiency in the Rotoforge project is ensured by a service offered by italian Energy service company Tholos, enabling ABS to obtain white certificates in environmental policies. “We selected Tholos in order to implement our energy efficiency initiatives – says Luca Sassoli, energy manager ABS – because of their capability to be valid a partner for us, supporting our ambitious environmentally aware project for energy efficiency involving the totality of our steel mill plants”.
